Woosung's EP, explores the contrasting perceptions of butterflies and moths.
While butterflies are considered beautiful and approachable, moths are often seen as dirty and scary creatures. However, Woosung recalls a personal experience in Korea where he observed moths illuminated by a bright light, revealing their hidden beauty, just like flawed human beings needing light to showcase their potential.
The tracklist revolves around this theme. "Phase Me" is a breakup anthem, using wordplay to represent both the desire not to be affected by the breakup and the transformative phases, similiar to a moth's metamorphosis. The music video for "Phase Me" depicts Woosung's metamorphic journey as an artist, ending with him in a moth-like appearance.
The other tracks, "ComE dOWn" and "Side Effects," have dreamy sound, containing subtle references to insects. "Side Effects" features Satica and describes the feeling of falling in love as being drawn to a bright light, like a moth's attraction to it.
The final track, "Modern Life," challenges the fasade of social media personas, urging listeners not to get lost in the noise of false online representations.
